
On 4-8 July 2005 at Queensland University of Technology Brisbane, AUSTRALIA
With only a few weeks to go we are on track for an outstanding conference. We expect over 100 presentations from around the globe at the academic conference of AUBEA/COBRA/CIB Student Chapter, and 20 presentations from industry speakers during the Industry Day.
The Conference will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, the Right Honourable Councillor Campbell Newman, who will discuss his TransApex vision for a transformed city, which includes new tunnels, public transport and infrastructure. Brisbane is the fastest growing city in Australia .
Our keynote speakers include Murray Coleman, Managing Director of Bovis Lend Lease, Australia & New Zealand, who will speak about his passion for construction safety, and Professor Ron McCaffer of Loughborough University in the UK , who will compare the proposed Australian Research Quality Framework with his experience as panel member of the UK RAE scheme. Our conference dinner speaker is Silvester Slavenburg from the Netherlands .
The Research day will include a research workshop facilitated by Dr Dilanthi Amaratunga and Richard Haig from Salford University . At the same time, the QUT Sustainable Living Initiative will be running a workshop on various key issues The afternoon of this day will be allocated to meetings of CIB W89 and TG53.
Thursday 7 th is devoted to a major Industry Day. Twenty speakers representing industry partners of a variety of QUT collaborative research centres will be presenting. Keynote speakers include Barry Gilbertson - RICS President, and John McCarthy, member of the CIB Board, Property Council, and Chair of the CRC for Construction Innovation.
During the week Peter Lansley and David Picken will be running an AROUSAL competition between students. We have also allocated time for meetings of AUBEA heads and professional bodies.
